The Opus Jazz Duo

The Opus Jazz Duo, with Dennis Shafer on saxophones and Matthias Leboucher on piano/keyboards, is a jazz duo formed to play original tunes and jazz standards. The use of a combination of classical, contemporary, and world music techniques enriches their interpretation and arrangement of this repertoire.

Tapis Volant

Tapis Volant, founded by Dennis Shafer, is centered around rhythm and dance. The interaction between musicians and dancers is essential for Egyptian dance, performed by Noora. The interpretation and improvisation by Dennis Shafer approaches that of jazz-contemporary Arab fusion. Other members of the group include Hussein El Azab (Egyptian percussion), Victor Pachas (guitar), and Ihab Raduan (lute).

Eastern Lamps

Eastern Lamps, co-founded by Srdjan Grujicic and Dennis Shafer, uses the arrangements and compositions of Srdjan Grujicic, a Serbian guitarist currently pursuing a Diploma in Music at the National Conservatory of Paris while touring Europe and Canada. While Serbian people are very proud, their traditional music is very poignant yet closely linked to Middle-Eastern rhythms and blends splendidly with American saxophone and Egyptian percussion, as shown in this concert.
